Baltimore Museum of Art is good regional museum. The collection isn't large but the canvases run the gamut from Rembrandt, Hals and Metsu to Lavinia Fontana, Rafael, and Titian, to French impressioni…Full review by Ron S

As mentioned above, Gertrude's is on site and run by award winning chef and cookbook author John Shields - a great was to learn about Chesapeake cuisine. Also a couple blocks to the southwest on 29th street is the unusual Paper Moon Cafe, wildly decorated in an eclectic mix of art and kitsch. A 'museum' in its own right.
Q:
Is there a restricted age as I am planning to be a lone traveller at 16?
A:
No there is not!!
Q:

I thought it had a decent sampling of French Impressionist paintings ... as noted by others, the erudite and savvy art collecting Cone sisters brought a few masterpieces to Baltimore. However, I am from Philadelphia and here we have (between the Philly Museum of Art, the Barnes Collection, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, etc.) the very FINEST collection of European and American Impressionist, Post Impressionist, Fauvist and Modernist paintings in the Western Hemisphere ... outranking even New York and Washington ... second only to the city of Paris itself!
Q:
Is the matisse exhibit still on display?
A:
Yes, Matisse/Diebenkorn is on view until January 29. Visit the artbma website for more info & tickets.
