Short-form posting platform Bluesky crossed the 15 million user mark today amid a recent surge of user signups in the wake of the US presidential election. That’s according to a stat-tracking site put together by Bluesky developer Jaz, using the Bluesky API.

According to Bsky Stats, a website that tracks Bluesky signups, posts, and other analytics, the platform now has more than 14.6 million users. Bluesky user Jaz, who runs the stats website, says that Bluesky has seen more than 100,000 new user signups every day since the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 5th.

Many users noted a steady loss of hundreds or even thousands of followers as accounts were deactivated, continuing a downward trend in activity since Musk’s takeover of the social network in late 2022.

With one million new accounts added since the U.S. elections, Bluesky has solidified itself as an option for people looking to change their social media service.

In just the past week, Bluesky took in more than 700,000 new members, mostly from the US, Bluesky COO Rose Wang confirmed to The Verge. That means the platform now has more than 14.5 million users, up from 9 million in early September and 12 million around mid-October.

A ‘majority' of the new users are from the US, indicating that people are searching for a new platform as an alternative to X.
