The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on three areas for possible development, one of which has an increasing chance of developing in the Gulf within days.As of 8 a.m. Monday, there is a 80% chance of development over the next 48 hours for a broad area of low pressure in the western Caribbean Sea that has been producing showers and storms over portions of Central America.

A tropical system in the Caribbean Sea could develop as it moves northward into the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center says.
