The New York Rangers found a way to free up cap space to use this summer in one of the hardest ways for their fan base when they traded team leader Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks.

The Anaheim Ducks acquired New York Rangers legend Chris Kreider along with a 2025 fourth-round pick in exchange for Carey Terrance and a 2025 third-round pick.

But there is one development that could have lasting ramifications. Kreider wanted to come to Anaheim, just as Jacob Trouba did when the Ducks came calling last December after the Rangers no longer wanted his services. In recent years, the Ducks have been on players’ no-trade lists when they are annually submitted.
