The death of "El Mencho" effectively decapitated what had become Mexico's most powerful cartel, giving the government its biggest prize yet.

President Sheinbaum urged Mexicans to remain calm and stay informed after a federal operation targeting CJNG leader El Mencho.

The warning comes due to ongoing security operations, road blockages, and criminal activity. U.S. citizens in Jalisco, Tamaulipas, Michoacan, Guerrero, and Nuevo Leon are advised to shelter in place until further notice.
