Texas has a tall task on Friday as the Buckeyes enter the Cotton Bowl coming off two dominant wins over Tennessee and Oregon.

That wouldn’t be a big deal, but Ohio State and Texas are slated to face each other on Friday night at the Cotton Bowl, which will be played at the very much domed AT&T Stadium.

No. 8 Ohio State and No. 5 Texas are both seeking a chance to end national title droughts -- the Buckeyes’ last national title was 10 years ago and Texas' last national title was 19 years ago. Ohio State’s left guard turned left tackle is from Bellaire, Texas, just outside of Houston, a city that resides in the shadows of NRG Stadium, the home of the Houston Texans. But the drive won’t be far for many in his inner circle.

Texas was the Big 12 champ last season. Howard transferred to Ohio State from Kansas State, which two years ago beat CFP-bound and undefeated TCU in overtime for that league title. Howard started three games against Texas while with the Wildcats. Those were all losses, as was a fourth game when he was on the sideline.

Now, Ryan Day and the Bucks prepare for Texas in the Cotton Bowl. Another tough task as Ohio State must play the Longhorns in their own backyard with Dallas being just a short three-hour drive from Austin.
