An Oklahoma native, Mr. England led advances in tornado tracking as the first television meteorologist to use the more precise Doppler radar.

Gary England, who retired in 2013 after over 40 years as the chief meteorologist for Oklahoma TV station KWTV, has died at 85.

England was called the Oklahoma's Master Meteorologist by NPR while The New York Times called him The Weather God of Oklahoma City.
