KERRVILLE, Texas - In a tense and emotional hearing Wednesday morning, local leaders from Kerr and Kendall counties stood before Texas lawmakers to account for their emergency response during the deadly July 4th flash flooding that devastated the region.

Flood relief is one of many items the Texas Legislature is taking up in the 30-day special session called by Gov. Greg Abbott.

State lawmakers are in the Hill Country community most impacted by the July 4 flooding gathering testimony for legislation to address disaster preparedness and response efforts.

On July 31, state legislators will convene in Kerrville, the area most impacted by the July 4 flood in the Hill Country, to hear directly from residents, local officials and experts about the aftermath and ongoing needs.
