What makes things worse for the Patriots is that Gonzalez is not the only cornerback dealing with an early injury. Veteran cornerback Carlton Davis was also notably not in attendance for Tuesday's practice. However, his absence has lasted longer, as this is now his fourth missed practice since the Patriots began training camp on July 22.

The Patriots added to their secondary this offseason by signing former Detroit Lions defensive back Carlton Davis III, but he too has missed time this summer due to injury. The absence of their top two corners has forced the likes of Alex Austin, Marcus Jones, and Marcellas Dial into prominent action on New England's top defense.

While the Patriots got some good news on cornerback Christian Gonzalez, his hamstring injury will keep him out of practice until at least next week.
