Thousands of protesters across the US marched against the Trump administration as part the "No Kings" movement Saturday, June 14.

On the same day Melissa Hortman and her husband were murdered in a "politically-motivated" assassination, more "politically-motivated" violence occurred at peaceful protests across the country.

Police are investigating a shooting at a protest in Salt Lake City, in which a bystander was killed. A man was charged after driving through a crowd in Culpeper, Va.

Thousands attended "No Kings" protests being held across the country and in many cities in North Texas on Saturday.

"I think we will see the largest peaceful single day protests that this country has seen certainly since the first Trump term," said Indivisible cofounder Ezra Levin, one of the organizers.

City leaders are addressing concerns after Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the deployment of the National Guard to San Antonio ahead of the "No Kings Day" protest scheduled for this weekend. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg said the city received no "advance warning" of the National Guard from Abbott.

Protests for what is being called No Kings National Day of Defiance, an effort challenging President Donald Trump's authority, are planned around the United States this weekend including
