Matt Coronato scored in the third period to lift the Calgary Flames over the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 on Saturday. Connor Zary also scored for the Flames, who won for the first time in 2026 and snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Pittsburgh Penguins saw their six-game winning streak get snapped after falling to the Calgary Flames 2-1 at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday night. “They did a good job. They compete hard,” Captain Sidney Crosby said on the Flames’ performance.
The Penguins had a goal disallowed and Crosby wasn't happy about it following a 2-1 loss to Calgary on Saturday.
The defenseman has reportedly refused to report to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the team's minor league affiliate.
The Penguins are content returning a similar group, leaving few possible moves after signing Letang and forwards Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust, Rickard Rakell, Kasperi Kapanen and Danton Heinen to new contracts. They will need to shed salary to become compliant with the NHL salary cap, possibly by making another trade.
