A fire at Biolab, a chemical plant in Conyers, is causing the evacuation of people who live nearby as well as a number of road closures.

A huge fire at a chemical plant near Atlanta tonight has forced people out of their homes. NBC News' Dana Griffin reports.

A sprinkler malfunction combined with a “water-reactive chemical” in the plant set off the plume, prompting evacuations for large parts of Conyers, Ga., officials said.

According to Rockdale County officials, a fire at a Georgia chemical plant is forcing evacuations and interstate road closures in Conyers, Georgia, about 30 miles east of Atlanta. CNN’s Jessica Dean has more.
