Michigan coach Sherrone Moore spoke in his postgame comments following the 27-24 win over USC Football that the Wolverines "knew they could generate yards" in their running attack. Michigan cruised to 291 rushing yards against the Trojans' defense.

Michigan football appeared to be going backwards and USC was still reveling in its Week 1 win over a potentially overhyped LSU team. Still, the Wolverines had lost to Texas in Week 2 and the Trojans were flying high coming into Ann Arbor for their first-ever Big Ten game.

Sherrone Moore is a former University of Oklahoma offensive lineman who became a coach after his playing days and wound up with Jim Harbaugh 's Wolverines as a tight ends coach, offensive line coach, offensive coordinator and now head coach.
