President Trump is calling up the D.C. National Guard and federal law enforcement to address crime in the capital.

The Trump administration is expanding National Guard support at immigration detention sites. Florida activated troops on Tuesday.

Another law, the Posse Comitatus Act, generally prohibits the military from being used within the United States. The 2,000 National Guard troops are only deployed to protect ICE officers.

The Florida National Guard has been headquartered in St. Augustine since 1907 and has a membership of more than nearly 10,000 Army National Guard personnel and more than 1,900 Air National Guardsmen.
