Millions of residents in parts of the northeastern U.S. are stuck at home under road travel bans and blizzard warnings as a fierce winter storm threatens the densely populated region overnight.
The entire Maine coast is facing a blizzard warning from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, which forecast whiteout conditions from falling and blowing snow. Coastal flooding is possible in York County, meteorologists say.

Much of Maryland was hit by a winter storm on Sunday, and it will continue to impact the state into Monday, with snow, rain, and dangerous road conditions.
New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill on Sunday announced that NJ Transit will suspend all rail service by 9 p.m. as a major winter storm hits the region, bringing more than 24 inches of snow to some parts of the state. Bus service, light rail and Access Link services will be suspended starting at 6 p.m., Sherrill said.
After a heavy snowstorm wreaked havoc across the state last month, another powerful winter storm is expected to impact Maryland from Sunday afternoon into Monday, bringing rain that could change to snow in the Baltimore area and heavier snowfall across other parts of the state.
