Mattel faced a major embarrassment after discovering that a misprinted website on its "Wicked" movie doll packaging directed consumers to porn site.

The misprint began making the rounds on social media over the weekend, with 'Wicked' fans pointing out the link to a porn site on the toy doll packaging.

Toy manufacturer Mattel issued an apology to anyone who bought one of the new dolls tied to Universal Pictures Wicked. The boxes containing the dolls -- which feature the likeness of the movie's stars including Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo -- intended to direct consumers to the movie's site.

In a statement to TODAY.com, Mattel confirmed the mislabeling. The toy company said it “was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page.”

Mattel appears to have made a “Wicked” mistake with the release of new dolls inspired by the upcoming hit stage play-turned film.
