Cal Fire added over 1.2 million acres in Central California to its fire hazard severity zones. New maps for Southern California come out March 24.

The new fire hazard severity zone maps issued by Cal Fire this week are part of a two-month statewide rollout.

Neighborhoods near Little Chico Creek are now considered in very high fire risk to wildfires. The updated map shows Picholine Way is also considered very high wildfire risk.

Cal Fire released its new fire hazard severity maps, including for Sacramento, detailing which areas are at high risk of fires.

Cal Fire's new hazard zone maps show information on topography, fire weather, flame length, past fire history, vegetation type and the overall likelihood of a wildfire igniting in the area.
