Mescal stars as the English playwright and poet opposite Buckley's Agnes, also known as Anne, in the first shared footage, which captures the early days of their courtship before moving on to the birth of their son, Hamnet, and the tragedy that befalls the family thereafter.

Focus Features released the trailer for "Hamnet," starring Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, on Tuesday. The film will premiere at TIFF and open Nov. 27.
