Aaron Rodgers has officially signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he wasn't the first option — or second — according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The four-time NFL MVP and former Super Bowl champion is on a one-year deal after ending his free agency.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers finally ended the NFL’s longest-running soap opera this offseason when the two parties agreed to a one-year deal this week to make the four-time MVP the franchise’s next quarterback.

The Steelers’ schedule sets up a Rodgers Revenge Tour that doesn’t end in Week 1. He also will face the Vikings — who preferred to go forward with J.J. McCarthy and his zero career starts over signing Rodgers — in Week 4, and the Packers (in Pittsburgh) in Week 8 for the first time since he was cast aside for Jordan Love.
