JAKARTA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived here to attend the 13th Annual Consultation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Thousands of Malaysians rallied in the nation’s capital demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over alleged unfulfilled promises and recent controversies surrounding his administration.

An Indonesian anti-graft watchdog has urged President Prabowo Subianto to press Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on the return of a key corruption suspect, Riza Chalid, who is believed to be or previously resided in Malaysia.

Public discontent is growing over rising living costs and accusations that he failed to deliver promised reforms.

He said the authority to impose punishment lies solely with the judiciary and any such action should only follow a proper trial in court.

DAP's Charles Santiago meanwhile says that many of the loudest calls for Anwar Ibrahim's resignation come from 'disgraced politicians'.

Anwar accused unnamed political figures of amassing fortunes worth up to RM4 billion while hypocritically claiming to defend Malay interests.
