For the second time in less than a month, a high-profile player for the Cleveland Guardians pitcher was placed on non-disciplinary leave in relation to a sports betting investigation.

Clase is the second Guardians pitcher to be placed on leave. In July, Luis Ortiz was alleged to have wagered on MLB games after an alert from IC360 “referenced action on Ortiz’s first pitches in select innings to be a ball or a hit batsman in two games: June 15 against the Seattle Mariners and June 27 against the St. Louis Cardinals.”
