Passengers on a flight from Mexico to Los Angeles were frightened to see their plane's engine spark up and catch fire only minutes after takeoff.

Fire erupted in one engine of a Delta Air Lines plane just after takeoff late last week at Los Angeles International Airport, but after a quick turnaround, the jet landed safely.

A total of 102 passengers and seven crew members were on the plane when the mid-air emergency happened.
