Some stat lines from this game spelled potential trouble for the Lightning. The Red Wings had gone 17-34 on the power play over their previous 10 games, and the Lightning put them on the power play six times. Also, Tampa Bay ceded most of the possession, allowing 40 shots on net and 77 shot attempts.

A huge key was the Wings' power play, which had so lethal in recent games (power play goals in 10 of their last 11 games). The Wings did score once, with Lucas Raymond scoring his 19th goal, but the Wings couldn't match the two or three power-play goals they had scored six of the last 11 games.

The Tampa Bay Lightning scored three goals in a span of 3:42 less than four minutes into the second period to break the game open and went on to defeat the Red Wings 5-1 at Amalie Arena. Detroit (21-20-4) has lost two of its past three following a seven-game winning streak. The Lightning (25-16-3) are 5-1-1 in their past seven.

Seider was arguably the Red Wings' best player last night. In addition to leading the team in ice time and tied for most shots, he threw a whopping eight hits. Marco Kasper and Michael Rasmussen were the next highest with three each. The entire team threw 23 hits, with these three players recording 14 of those hits.

TAMPA -- Nikita Kucherov and Jake Guentzel each had a goal and two assists for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 5-1 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Amalie Arena on Saturday. Kucherov, who recorded his 600th NHL assist in the second period, extended his point streak to eight games (four goals, 10 assists).
