Shifting political winds nationally could influence Indiana Republicans' decision next month on whether to draw new congressional maps mid-decade.

Republican incumbent Jerry L. Overman Jr. has won another term as Indiana County coroner, easily defeating Democrat Cinny Bratton in Tuesday's general election. According to complete but unofficial returns from Indiana County Voting and Elections, Overman netted 13,120 election day votes to 4,247 for Bratton.

Gov. JB Pritzker credited Democratic successes in Tuesday’s elections across the country to candidates’ focus on affordability as well as voters who used their ballots to rebuke Republican President Donald Trump’s second-term leadership.
