WASHINGTON, D. C. - U.S. Sen. JD Vance on Saturday responded to Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s criticism of attacks he and Donald Trump have leveled at Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio by saying the Republican party is a “big tent” where disagreements are welcome.

Democratic Gov. Tim Walz stepped onstage at a high school aptly named Freedom and touted his party’s inclusivity, and Republican Sen. JD Vance stumped in a fairgrounds farm stand draped in American flags, promising mass deportations to approving cheers.

Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance held a campaign rally Saturday afternoon at the Berks County Fairgrounds in Bern Township, where he was greeted by a sea of red and blue Trump-Vance signs held aloft by supporters. It was the first visit by a member of a presidential ticket to Berks County so far this election cycle.

The Republican vice-presidential nominee will share a stage with Mr. Carlson, who was criticized for interviewing a writer who falsely claimed the Holocaust was not an intentional act of genocide.

Vance’s visit will come just over a week after his counterpart, vice president nominee Tim Walz, visited Macon. Former President Donald Trump’s campaign said Vance would deliver remarks on the economy, and criticized President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ approach toward economic issues.
