On Monday, MSU moved up one spot to No. 7 in the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll. College basketball analytics and metrics site KenPom ranks the Spartans No. 15 nationally, behind Big Ten teams Purdue (8), Illinois (10) and Wisconsin (14).

MSU, the winner of its last 13 contests, remained the Big Ten’s only unbeaten team and became the first team under head coach Tom Izzo to finish December and January without a loss.

Michigan State continues to get it done without a true star while showcasing a lineup that regularly goes 10 deep. The Spartans are the lone team in the AP Top 25 with only one player averaging double figures in scoring (Jaden Akins at 13.6) and that’s obviously difficult for opponents to scout and defend.
