For PS4 owners, Sony has stated that due to the growing number of PS5 players, the company is shifting towards offering only PS5 titles through the PlayStation Plus monthly games and game catalog benefits, starting January 2026.

The PlayStation 5 anniversary themes are being removed by Sony, but the company promises they will return after fan feedback.

PlayStation has a new CEO again -- kind of. Hideaki Nishino will be the sole CEO, following less than a year of serving with Hermen Hulst.

According to data firm Ampere, PlayStation is responsible for 64% of consumer spending on Microsoft titles in December 2024.

Sony says they may return in some capacity in the future, and it will be exploring more opportunities to celebrate PlayStation's history.

Sony plans to bring back classic PlayStation themes due to popular demand after their limited-time release. The return of these themes is expected in the months ahead, pending further work behind the scenes.

Retro game enthusiasts may already be acquainted with Analogue, a company that designs and manufactures updated versions of classic consoles that can play original games but also be hooked up to modern televisions and monitors.

While it’s very cool that PlayStation VR2 works on PC, it does have a few big caveats. Not only do you need the headset (which retains its $549.99 MSRP as of writing), you’ll need a computer powerful enough to handle VR gaming.

The game currently features 900 cars, two expansions, 40 thematic game updates, and even more content. The studio also stated that previously released car packs, as well as the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions, will be available for purchase by PlayStation 5 players.
