Barkley, Eagles and New York Giants
With starters resting, the game itself didn’t provide a ton of exciting moments. However, the CBS broadcast still provided some entertainment.
One sleeping aids company saw the perfect opportunity for some saucy marketing from the Barkley-Giants saga and teamed up with the Philadelphia Eagles star to make a clever ad that seemed to poke fun at Giants owner John Mara.
"For me the biggest part of losing Saquon was the locker room aspect," tight end Daniel Bellinger said in ESPN's story. "Just having him as a leader and a guy that when there were times like, what do we do, he would be like 'Go play!' He brought an energy that sometimes we needed out there."
Barkley currently sits at 2,005 yards, meaning he’d need just 101 more to eclipse Dickerson. Adding to the drama, Barkley played for the woeful Giants for six seasons before his former team allowed him to walk away from New York in the spring.
The Giants owner went viral over the summer after he was caught saying “I’ll have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philadelphia” during an episode of Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants.
