Fans and analysts weren't the only ones caught off guard by the news of Derek Carr's shoulder injury. Per ESPN's Katherine Terrell, some assistant coaches for the New Orleans Saints were "unaware" anything was wrong with Carr until it was reported. Terrell added it's "unknown" when the organization found out about it.

Levis still has two years remaining on his $9.5 million rookie contract so the Saints could use him to compete with Spencer Rattler while they wait for Carr's shoulder to heal. Beyond 2025, Levis could serve as a backup or bridge option if the Saints ever commit to a rebuild.
