While another Los Angeles County wildfire burned homes to the ground, the community of Altadena was also left devastated by a quickly moving blaze — one that has left at least five people dead and injured several others as it wiped out entire buildings.

Laura Begley and Evan Dresman had just moved into their dream Gregory Ain home and were preparing to sell their fixer-upper in Altadena's Janes Village. Fire destroyed both.

Several homes in the area have burned, but the neighborhood’s famous trees, decorated each year for the holidays, did not appear to be ablaze at mid-day.
