The second-to-last full moon of 2024 is nearly here, and November's full moon is the 4th straight supermoon. Here's why it's called the Beaver Moon.

This fourth and final supermoon of the year will appear larger and brighter than a typical full moon as it reaches roughly 225,000 miles from Earth on Thursday, just ahead of its official full phase on Friday.

It’s our last full moon before the winter solstice — and it’s full of seasonal connotations: stocking up, hunkering down and bedding in just as a beaver might before the cold season floods in full force.
