Heavy rain, snowmelt to raise flood risk from Alaska to Washington
A "dangerous situation" may unfold as inches of rain, moderating temperatures and melting snow threaten flooding and avalanches into early week, AccuWeather meteorologists warn.
Rain is expected to start on Friday afternoon across New Jersey. After the rain ends Sunday, strong winds gusting up to 40 mph are possible.
Saturday will be the main event. Rain develops and gets heavy at times into the afternoon and evening. It will be cooler, with highs in the mid-40s. Roads could get slick, and with some downpours around, ponding on roadways and localized flooding is possible—so keep an eye on conditions.
