A wildfire close to Meeker in western Colorado has doubled in size. The Lee Fire west of the historic town has now burned an estimated 45,000 acres and so far firefighters don't have any containment on it.

In a Wednesday afternoon update, the Rio Blanco Sheriff's Office said the Town of Meeker was under a pre-evacuation notice due to "the potential for the fire to jump," while residents in areas southwest of Meeker were ordered to evacuate immediately.

A wildfire burning in Rio Blanco County has scorched more than 14,000 acres, fire officials said Tuesday. The Lee fire, which has since absorbed the Grease fire that also started near Meeker, was last mapped at 14,426 acres, fire officials said.
