Fox News Digital spoke with former Republican presidential candidate and Ohio native Vivek Ramaswamy ahead of the town hall in Springfield, a city impacted by an influx of migrants.

Ramaswamy, who spent much of his presidential campaign running into any news cycle that remotely validated his campaign’s anti-illegal immigration rhetoric, was something of a latecomer to the unfolding story in Springfield, where he spoke of growing up and playing tennis at nearby Wittenberg University and getting subs at Mike And Rosy’s Deli.

Ramaswamy's visit came at a tense time for Springfield. Since President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, have spread debunked rumors about Haitians eating pets, bomb threats have closed buildings around town, including Springfield City Hall and multiple elementary schools.
