The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said Friday that extreme weather and climate impacts had a damaging toll on Latin America and the Caribbean last year, resulting in dying glaciers, record-breaking hurricanes,
"The preservation of glaciers is not only an environmental, economic, and social necessity. It is a matter of survival," said Celeste Saulo, Secretary-General of the WMO.
