Syrian government’s control of energy reserves from SDF has raised hopes of return to pre-war production levels.
During the Syrian civil war, the United States used the SDF as its primary proxy: the boots on the ground for the fight against Islamic State (IS). Under the shield of American air power, the SDF gained much of Syria – including Raqqa, the former IS Syrian capital.

Syria's state-run SANA news agency reported that two civilians were killed and 15 were wounded by shelling, and that dozens of families fled two neighborhoods of the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, which has seen previous outbreaks of violence. The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, said 17 people were wounded and a woman was killed.
