Six Flags is selling seven of its amusement parks, including Michigan's Adventure, to strengthen its foundation and focus.

While Cedar Point and Kings Island are not included in the sale, five of the seven parks are from the same newly designated Midwest Region within Six Flags.

During the creation of Kings Island in the late 1960s and early 1970s, park operators Coney Island Inc. and the Taft Broadcasting Company decided to take a gamble on its signature ride.

The biggest addition coming to Warren County’s Kings Island in 2026 is Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare, a sequel to the fan-favorite dark ride.
