A Salinas-based attorney says she believes the immigrant community is feeling desperate right now, doing everything they can to secure legal status in the U.S., causing some to fall victim to scams.

Tiffany R. Murphy, the U of A School of Law associate dean for academic affairs and a professor of law, will serve as president-elect through 2025 and then as president beginning in January 2026.
