Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir will perform an epic work by Rossini at a concert in the town’s Crooked Spire church.

In its denial of the church’s permit request, the Town Council said the church could resubmit plans for a spire reaching about 68 feet tall, the height of the steeple on its existing meeting chapel.

The church had sought to build a spire rising 174 feet tall in Fairview, while town officials decried it as out of character for the town of 11,000 in a still-rural enclave of Collin County.
