There is a rather unusual twist in the story of a bear that attacked vehicles in California. Authorities now say the 'bear' is actually something else.

The California Department of Insurance said the four men claimed a bear entered their 2010 Rolls Royce Ghost and damaged the interior while at Lake Arrowhead on Jan. 28. They provided surveillance footage to their insurance company as proof. But the video proved their story false.

Investigators accused four suspects of staging bear attacks using a costume to damage vehicles in a San Bernardino County mountain community in order to receive payouts totaling more than $140,000.
