The percentage of students in Alachua County Public Schools’ traditional high schools who graduated on time increased in 2024, according to data released late Thursday by the Florida Department of Education.

Somerset County Public Schools made the announcement on Jan. 10. According to officials, on Jan. 7, PowerSchool, the company that provides Somerset County Public Schools’ (SCPS) student information system, announced a cybersecurity incident affecting the data of customers nationwide.

Union County Public Schools says it’s among North Carolina districts affected by a breach in the state’s student information system, which resulted in unauthorized access to student and teacher data.

Area school districts might have been impacted by the cyberattack of a nationwide education software cloud-based platform called PowerSchool, used to store sensitive student data.

A data breach at one of the largest student information systems in the world has potentially exposed the personal information of millions of students and teachers, including in Northeast Ohio.

Parents and educators are receiving notifications about the breach, but it’s still unclear exactly how many people have been affected or what information was leaked.
