WASHINGTON, Aug 3 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday he will announce a new head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics within three or four days. He fired BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer after accusing her of faking jobs numbers, without providing any evidence of data manipulation.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who as Labor Secretary oversees the BLS, wrote on social media that she supports Trump’s decision to fire McEntarfer. “A recent string of major revisions have come to light and raised concerns about decisions being made by the Biden-appointed Labor Commissioner,” Chavez-DeRemer wrote.
