Tennessee Department of Transportation Region One spokesperson Mark Nagi joined 6 News at 11 to discuss the status of state roadways and what drivers should know for the coming days

With a winter storm moving across East Tennessee and bringing the threat of multiple inches of snow, difficult driving conditions are expected.

TEMA said people should expect road conditions to remain bad through the rest of the night. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing during the day this weekend, but that will create the risk of snow melt refreezing and turning to ice on the roads, particularly roads with a lot of trees and shade, and rural back roads.

Roads across the Mid-South will soon be covered in snow. Transportation officials in Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi all urged drivers to stay at home unless travel is absolutely necessary. FOX13 is committed to keeping an eye on our roads.
