Players who pull out of the IPL at short notice will be banned from taking part in the following two seasons in a new rule introduced to the T20 league.

An overseas player who does not register for the mega auction will not be allowed to register for subsequent mini auction

The move, requested by the franchises, is aimed at stopping foreign players leaving the team in lurch and throwing their game plans in disarray.

If a player is retained while uncapped, he will remain in the uncapped slab even if he plays an international game before the day of the auction

After the retention policy was introduced, all the teams started their preparations and are currently busy sorting out for the names of the players to be retained.

Given a total of 6 retentions, including RTM, are allowed, the IPL franchise can choose their combination for it. Howver, the 6 retentions/RTM's can have a maximum of 5 capped players (Indian and overseas) and a maximum of 2 uncapped players, informed BCCI in its release.
