He cared about everyone who crossed his path,” Madison Semper, one of his friends, said. More than 100 friends and family members gathered for a vigil behind Welch Elementary which Espinal attended as a young boy.

He lit up every room he was in,” said his high school teammate, Michael Maraio. “He lifted the mood, lifted everyone up.”
