In his lone appearance during the 2024 campaign, Milton led the Patriots to a 23-16 win over the Buffalo Bills in the regular-season finale. He went 22-of-29 for 241 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions while also adding a rushing touchdown.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Pats put Milton on the market after signing Josh Dobbs to be Drake Maye's backup earlier this offseason. Rapoport also noted the Cowboys were "the most interested from the outset" of all the potential suitors.
The New England Patriots are reportedly trading young quarterback Joe Milton III to the Dallas Cowboys. Milton, who showed promise and upside in limited playing time with the Patriots last season, will now serve as the backup to veteran Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott, NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter reported.
Milton, 25, was selected in the sixth round of the draft last offseason by the Patriots after playing at Tennessee.
