“So, it’s been a very trying day.” In a news briefing Monday morning, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said deputies shot and killed Timothy Schultz, 42, after a gator attacked him.

A judge recused herself from a case of a Manitowoc County man charged in connection to the death of a 7-year-old boy.

The man, later identified as Timothy Schultz, had just emerged from a lake after apparently being bitten by an alligator, Judd said in a news conference.
