On July 31, 1987 NWA’s 3rd annual Great American Bash took place from the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. Like the previous year, it was a series of events held throughout the summer of 1987, although this year's tour only had 3 events (July 4th, July 18th and July 31st) instead of 13. In the main event dubbed “WarGames II: The Explosion”, The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal), Dusty Rhodes, Nikita Koloff & Paul Ellering took on The Four Horsemen (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Lex Luger & Tully Blanchard)
