One month after Hurricane Melissa, I asked the people in the West a simple question: What are you grateful for? The answers were raw and real. Grateful for life. Grateful for a dry bed and a roof that stayed standing. Grateful that “it could be worse, but God kept us.” Grateful to still be here to help family and neighbours. Grateful for the privilege to serve in medicine and for teams that have held each other up through the hardest days. From Westmoreland to Trelawny, the message was the same:
