Crews fight wildfires in windy Southern California that forced residents to evacuate

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) continues to support projects that enhance the health of California’s landscapes and forests. Since 2017, CAL FIRE has awarded over $700 million in Forest Health grants, and now applications are open for the next round of funding. A total of $70 million is available to support projects focused on preventing wildfires, increasing reforestation efforts, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. #CALFIRE has been working tirelessly to respond to storm-related incidents across California, including clearing trees and debris from roadways, responding to calls for help, and providing emergency support to affected communities. Since January 1, personnel have responded to nearly 100,000 incidents across the state, with more than half of those being public service or medical response related.
